Elliseum Visual Arts

The Elliseum is and was the art studio of Gunilla and Bengt Ellis. It also serves as a gallery and museum for their respective works, where Gunilla talks about her husband's painting and her own textile art.

Bengt Ellis mainly painted in watercolor and oil, drawing inspiration from the nature of Härjedalen and the people he met during his travels abroad and family journeys. Gunilla weaves ornaments and burial blankets in the Småland weaving tradition and creates clothing in small editions from her own fabrics. She has also designed beautiful wool blankets in jacquard weave, featuring motifs of animals and nature from western Härjedalen.
